When traveling to Mission Beach a big decision for many travelers is whether to stay in a Mission Beach vacation rental, hotel, or some other means of accommodation. What is best for each individual really depends on their unique needs, budgets, and where they may be in their lives.

Vacation Rentals are the most prominent form of accommodation available in the Mission Beach area. They were originally introduced as a means for buyers to help pay for their Mission Beach real estate investments, but over time the vacation rentals have become a significant business on their own. Today I would estimate that there are hundreds of vacation rentals in Mission Beach on the oceanfront, bay front and in the courts and on the boulevard. Vacation rentals can be a great option for families and group that can share accommodation. For example a 3 bedroom vacation rental on the beachfront may go for $500 per night in the summer, but can accommodate the equivalent of 4 or 5 hotel rooms which may go for $200-$250 per night. In a case like this, a vacation rental could save a group $300 to $400 per night or up to nearly $3000 for a week. There are many additional advantages to the vacation rental option as well. Most have laundry facilities, full kitchens, living areas, and beach front or bay front locations.

The hotel options in Mission Beach are limited. There is really only The Bahia and The Catamaran that are actually in Mission Beach, and neither has an ocean from location. Hotels are probably more ideal for small groups of friends or couples. Advantages include amenities such as restaurants, bars and stores on location. In the case of the Bahia and the Catamaran, you can also enjoy luaus, brunches and the boat that travels Mission Bay between the two resorts, the Bahia Belle. Disadvantages are generally cost of accommodation per person and additional costs such as meals, since most rooms do not have kitchens and generally do not allow you to bring in beverages from outside the resort.
